🌸 Rosé: what are the actual differences?
Rosé might just be the ultimate wine for sunny days. Fresh, fruity, and always enjoyable. But did you know there are quite a few differences in rosé? From light and elegant to fuller and spicier – and even wines that look like rosé but aren't actually.
Let us tell you more 👇
🍷 Is everything pink… rosé?
Not entirely.
A good example is Pinot Grigio Blush.
It often has a light pink color, but technically it's not a rosé. It's simply white wine.
The color comes from the light skin of the Pinot Grigio grape. The color of rosé comes from the color of red grapes.
So: looks like rosé, drinks like white
🇪🇸 Spanish rosé: fruity and distinctive
Spanish rosé (rosado) is often more robust in style.
Think of:
- More color
- More fruit (strawberry, cherry)
- Slightly firmer
Perfect if you want a bit more flavor or with food that requires a bit more body.
🇫🇷 Provence rosé: the classic
This is the style most people fall in love with.
Provence rosé is:
- Light in color
- Fresh and elegant
- Subtly fruity (strawberry, peach, citrus)
This is what you see on terraces, on boats, and yes… even in Ibiza 😉
The absolute best comes from houses such as:
- Domaine Tempier (Bandol)
- Domaines Ott
Beautiful wines, but often on the pricey side
Our favorites (for every budget)
Do you want that Provence style, but at a smarter price? Then we have a few winners:
