Description:This naturally sweet Chenin Blanc is made from very ripe grapes from the dry vineyards of Paarl. The wine has a deep golden yellow color and an intense aroma of ripe peach, apricot, orange marmalade, and honeycomb, complemented by a subtle hint of ginger.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, soft, and almost syrupy, with concentrated yellow fruit and a long, warming finish. The vibrant acidity of Chenin Blanc ensures that the wine remains fresh and elegant despite its pronounced sweetness. Aging in French oak barrels adds extra depth and a refined, luxurious structure.

When to drink:A delightful end to an extensive dinner or a special glass to quietly savor. The 0.375-liter size makes this wine perfect for sharing with two to four people with dessert or a cheese board.

Fun fact:Although Chenin Blanc is often used for dry white wine, the grape is also particularly suitable for dessert wines. Its naturally high acidity beautifully balances the ripe, sweet fruit, ensuring the wine doesn't become heavy or cloying.

Winemaker:Perdeberg Wines was founded in 1941 and is located at the foot of Paardeberg Mountain in Paarl. The producer is known for its dry, unirrigated vineyards. This makes the vines entirely dependent on natural rainfall and deep roots in the soil. This results in smaller grapes with great concentration, aroma, and character.

Food pairing tip:Wonderful with tarte tatin, crème brûlée, apricot tart, or a dessert with caramel and orange. Also delicious with aged cheeses or strong blue cheese. Serve the wine well chilled, around 8 to 10 °C.
