Sometimes the world of wine feels a bit like walking into a medieval library: beautiful, but where do you start? Luckily, 2026 is anything but dusty. The vintage is bursting with new styles, fresh ideas, and surprising regions. And because we love to pop the digital cork for you, we're taking you through this year's most important wine trends.

New Wine Regions Emerge

While classic wine countries still shine, a few unexpected players are joining the table. Think of England (yes, really), Scandinavia, and even certain Alpine regions. But perhaps even more importantly, we see Dutch wines making a huge comeback. Due to the changing climate, they can now make wines that you no longer drink "because it's interesting," but simply because they're delicious.

Vera recently said: "I can't wait for someone to ask where this incredibly good wine comes from and for me to casually say: The Netherlands.”

Grapes That Can Take a Beating

Think of heat-resistant heroes like Assyrtiko and Vermentino, but also new hybrids that need less water and can better withstand erratic weather. These are grapes that you, as a wine lover, may not know yet, but which your glass will likely be full of this year.

Think of it as the 'superfood' phase of the wine world, but without having to drink a smoothie.

Sustainability Becomes the Standard

In 2026, sustainability will no longer be something you need to create a separate category for. More and more winemakers are working organically, regeneratively, and with smart techniques to protect water, soil, and biodiversity.

Consumers are increasingly making conscious choices, so organic is indispensable. Organic is also more transparent, less fuss, and a pure product.

When we taste new wines, we already notice it: there is increasingly transparent work. Less fuss, more honesty. And you can taste that.

Low-Intervention Goes Mainstream

Natural wine remains, but becomes less of a 'hip niche' and more 'just good'. Wines with spontaneous fermentation, minimal filtering, and minimal additives remain popular, but in styles that become more accessible to anyone who isn't necessarily looking for a funky kombucha-like wine.

Casper calls it "natural wine 2.0: still adventurous, but without feeling like there's a farm in your glass."

Wine × Technology = 2026

We live in a time when your wine label will probably send you a personal message soon. AR labels, interactive tastings, AI recommendations (hello there), and online tastings are becoming increasingly normal.

For a wine webshop like ours, that's naturally a feast. The more we can show (and taste) online, the more fun it becomes.

More Clarity on the Label

No more mystery about sugars, yeasts, or additives. Consumers want to know what they're drinking. That's why you see more clear, honest labels.

We love it ourselves: wine, as far as we're concerned, should be clear, just like the sommelier who tells you it's simply a cracker.

Light Styles and Chillable Reds

Put your heavy bombs in the cellar for a moment (yes, in the Cave), because this year is all about light, fresh, and easy-drinking. White wine with a kick, rosé with character, and red wines that you can safely put in the fridge for a bit.

We call them the “Delft Balcony Wines”: perfect for people with a 1.5-meter wide balcony and a great longing for summer.

Bubbles Everywhere, Anytime

Champagne, of course, remains king (or queen), but cava, crémant, and other sparkling wines are making a huge leap. Drier, more refined, more creative.

According to Vera: “Bubbles are no longer just for New Year's Eve. They're for every day.”

New Styles and Hybrid Creations

Infused wines, wines with botanicals, lightly sparkling blends… 2026 will be a year where experimental styles are no longer viewed strangely. Ideal for curious drinkers who like their glass to be a little unexpected.

Grapes Breaking Through

Chenin Blanc, Albariño, Assyrtiko, Grenache, Vermentino… these will be the trendsetters of 2026. Not necessarily obscure grapes, but grapes that add that little bit of extra excitement.

And we solemnly promise: we will be stocking a lot of them.

Wine as an Experience

From harvest festivals to mini-workshops, from wine tours to local tastings, wine is increasingly about the story and the moment.

Even online, more experience is being created. (And yes, once our physical store in Delft opens, we're going all out.)

What does all this mean for you?

2026 will be a year full of discoveries. New regions, lighter styles, more transparency, and above all: many wines that you'll enjoy drinking without having to complete a viticulture degree first.
