If you ever thought buying wine just meant "we'll just pick something nice"... no. Absolutely not. Behind every bottle in our (future) Delft wine shop, there's a story. And usually also grape stress, a few moments of discussion between Vera and Casper, and many sips later, the proud discovery: this is it.

Tasting, sipping, nodding, doubting (and tasting again)
For us, everything starts with tasting. Lots of tasting. Sometimes it feels like we have a full-time career as "professional sippers," but hey, someone has to do it.
Wineries send us their most beautiful creations. From fresh gems to wines that make you think: nice for a picnic, but otherwise... next. We taste blind, open, with notes and without notes. The only thing that matters: what do we think, and most importantly: what will you think?
Because honestly: we don't buy wine for ourselves, we buy for you. For the people who, after a long workday, crave a glass that feels like a mini-vacation, or who want to celebrate a special moment with a bottle that's just a bit more special than the supermarket classic.
Price-quality: our holy grail
You know how it is. You're standing in front of a shelf with 200 bottles. Prices range from "perfectly affordable" to "do I have to sell an organ for this?". At Wijnhuis Cave, we strongly believe in price-quality.
That doesn't mean we only choose cheap wines. Or only luxury ones. It means that every bottle feels like you're getting more than you paid for. That you open a wine and think: wow, I didn't expect this for this price.
During tasting, we always ask ourselves the same question: "Would we wholeheartedly recommend this bottle to a friend?" If the answer isn't a firm 'yes!', then it's out.
Our target audience: you, the relaxed wine lover
Our tasting rounds are not academic, not elitist, not filled with complex terms that no one wants to hear. We think of you. The young professional. The social drinker. The home cook who likes to find a wine that matches that new TikTok recipe.

The best part of our job? The surprises. That one bottle from a small family winery in Spain that we thought: okay, let's try it. And then BOOM. A taste explosion, in love. Immediately calling: "Hey, do you have more?"
We proudly add these kinds of gems to our collection. Sometimes they're limited batches, sometimes they become lasting favorites. But always with a reason. And always chosen with love.
