Weszeli Winery

In the heart of the beautiful Kamptal, one of Austria's most renowned wine regions, lies Weingut Weszeli. Here, everything revolves around one conviction: great wine is born in the vineyard. With respect for nature, biodynamic viticulture, and an unparalleled attention to terroir, winemaker Davis Weszelicrafts elegant wines that perfectly reflect the unique identity of the Kamptal.

From refined Grüner Veltlinerto expressive Riesling: every bottle tells the story of the soil, the climate, and the time the wine is given to fully develop.

A new generation with respect for tradition

The current story of Weingut Weszeli began in 2011, when entrepreneur Davis Weszelileft his career in Vienna to pursue his dream: working with nature and making his own wine. He took over a historic winery in Langenlois, whose origins date back to 1679.

Although he himself had no winemaking background, he saw this as an advantage. Without ingrained habits, he gradually developed his own vision of wine. By listening to experienced winemakers, experimenting, and above all observing nature, he built Weingut Weszeli into one of Austria's most progressive wineries.

Kamptal: a paradise for Grüner Veltliner and Riesling

The Kamptal DACis one of the most beautiful wine regions in Austria. The region is located at the crossroads of various climate zones. During the day, warm Pannonian air currents ensure optimal grape ripening, while cool nights from the Waldviertel preserve freshness and lively acidity.

The soil is also exceptionally versatile. Gneiss, slate, loess, sandstone, and ancient marine deposits alternate, giving each vineyard its own character. This combination of climate and geology makes the Kamptal world-famous for its elegant, mineral-rich white wines.

Biodynamic viticulture in harmony with nature

For Davis Weszeli, sustainability is much more than a trend. All approximately 30 hectares of vineyardsare managed biodynamically according to the guidelines of Demeter. The focus is on strengthening the natural ecosystem. By promoting biodiversity, using natural preparations, and keeping the soil healthy, grapes are produced with greater depth, vitality, and clear terroir expression.

Almost all work in the vineyard is done by hand. From pruning the vines to harvesting: only perfectly ripe and healthy grapes ultimately make it into the cellar.

Winemaking with patience

In the cellar, Weszeli also opts for a natural approach. Fermentation occurs as spontaneously as possible with wild yeasts, intervention is minimal, and the wines are given ample time to ripen. Many terroir wines remain on the fine lees for years before being bottled and only released when they are fully balanced.

According to Davis Weszeli, time is one of the most important ingredients of a great wine. By patiently waiting, wines emerge with greater complexity, tension, and an impressive length.

Authentic Austrian wines

Weingut Weszeli deliberately focuses on the grape varieties that have made the Kamptal great: Grüner Veltlinerand Riesling. The wines are characterized by their fresh citrus aromas, ripe stone fruit, refined spiciness, and pronounced minerality. They are vibrant and elegant in their youth, but at the same time possess excellent aging potential.

Precisely this combination of freshness, depth, and terroir makes the wines popular with both wine lovers and top gastronomy.
