A family history spanning more than 450 years
The origin of Weingut Deutzerhof dates back to 1574, when the Cossmannfamily was first mentioned as winemakers in Mayschoß. Over the centuries, the family business grew into a fixture in the Ahr. In the 1980s, the winery was named Deutzerhof, referring to a historic outpost of the Deutz monastery that once stood on this location.
Today, the winery is led by Jürgen Doetschand winemaker Hans-Jörg Lüchau. Together they build on centuries of tradition, with a clear vision: to produce elegant, terroir-driven wines where freshness, finesse, and origin are always more important than power or excessive oak aging. Since 1994, Deutzerhof has also been a member of the prestigious VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter), a quality association of Germany's best wineries.

Although the Ahr is one of Europe's northernmost wine regions, the valley offers surprisingly favorable conditions for red wine. In addition to the classic Spätburgunders, Deutzerhof also produces contemporary wines such as the Légère Cuvée. This red wine combines Spätburgunder, Dornfelder, and Regentinto a fresh, juicy, and accessible style.
The three grapes are fermented together, creating a harmonious wine with aromas of raspberries, cherries, blackcurrant, and a subtle spiciness. Aging takes place in stainless steel tanks to optimally preserve the fruity character.
