Boyer-De Bar
Sometimes, a unique winery doesn't come from an ancient family business, but from a friendship between two passionate winemakers.Maison Boyer-De Baris the perfect example of this. In 2018,Vincent Boyer, a winemaker from the famous Meursault in Burgundy, andEmmanuel Lucas de Bar, from a centuries-old wine family in Languedoc, decided to combine their knowledge and experience. Their goal was clear: to create wines that combine the best of two French wine worlds.
The result is a unique collection of wines where the sun-drenched power of Languedoc meets the elegance and precision for which Burgundy is world-renowned.
Two winemakers, one shared vision
The strength of Boyer-De Bar lies in the complementary backgrounds of its founders.
Emmanuel Lucas de Bargrew up among the vineyards of Languedoc, where his family has been cultivating wine since the fifteenth century. He knows the Mediterranean climate, the chalky soils, and the grape varieties of Southern France like no other.
Vincent Boyerrepresents the fourth generation of the renowned Domaine Boyer-Martenot in Meursault. After internships in California and Australia, he brought modern insights to Burgundy, while remaining true to the classic Burgundian style: refined, terroir-driven, and always balanced.
When both friends decided to make wine together, a special concept emerged where not origin, but quality, is central.
Les Peyrarols – The beginning of a special adventure
The first joint wine was namedLes Peyrarols, after a historic vineyard in the Hérault valley in Languedoc. Here, the grapes grow on chalky soils with fossilized shells, while the cooling influence of the Mediterranean Sea ensures a long, even ripening.
The Chardonnay grapes are hand-harvested and then vinified in the Burgundian manner. This gives the fruit from Southern France a refinement that you would normally only expect from great white Burgundies. It is precisely this combination that makes Les Peyrarols so special.
Craftsmanship without compromise
At Boyer-De Bar, everything revolves around precision. The grapes are carefully selected and ferment naturally. The wine then ages for about a year in French oak barrels, after which it rests for a few more months in concrete egg-shaped tanks. This special aging provides extra texture, freshness, and complexity, while preserving the pure character of the Chardonnay.
The result is a wine with a beautiful balance between ripe fruit, fresh acidity, and subtle notes of citrus, white peach, toasted almond, and an elegant minerality. Every sip shows how beautiful the combination of Burgundian wine knowledge and Southern French grapes can be.
Wines with character and elegance
Although Boyer-De Bar is a relatively young winery, its wines breathe the experience of generations of winemakers. They combine accessibility with depth and are made for enthusiasts who love refined, gastronomic wines.
The style is pure, fresh, and elegant, with great attention to terroir and balance. These are wines that pair excellently with refined dishes, but also impress without food due to their length and complexity.
