On January 12, we attended Wine Professional in Amsterdam, the leading wine fair for wine professionals in the Netherlands. This trade fair brings together everything that makes us at Wijnhuis Cave passionate: quality, craftsmanship, unique wine stories, and meetings with passionate winemakers. For us, it's an annual opportunity to taste new vintages, catch up with suppliers, and set our sights on the upcoming wine year.
Wine Professional: the Benelux wine fair
Wine Professional has been around for over twenty years and has grown into one of the most important wine fairs in the Benelux. Annually, more than 300 producers, importers, and wineries present their wines to thousands of professionals from hospitality, retail, and the wine trade. From small artisan domains to large international names, everything comes together in the glass here.
Tasting, comparing, and innovating
Our day was entirely dedicated to tasting and meeting. We took ample time to speak with our current suppliers, taste new vintages, and see which wines fit the style of Wijnhuis Cave: exciting, gastronomic, and accessible.
We mainly focused on:

In addition, we deliberately sought out new wine suppliers. Among other things, we tasted white Riojas, oak-aged Chardonnays, rosés with more depth, and fuller red wines. The great advantage of a trade fair is that you can quickly compare, ask questions directly, and immediately hear the story behind the wine. This makes tasting not only educational but also inspiring and personal.
A familiar and warm atmosphere
One of the reasons why Wine Professional is so beloved is its unique atmosphere. You always meet familiar faces from the wine world there. For Vera, it sometimes felt like a small reunion, with many former colleagues and familiar faces from the Michelin-starred restaurants where she previously worked. It makes a fair day not only professionally valuable but above all personal and enjoyable.
Vera at the Proefschrift Theater
On Tuesday, January 13, Vera was asked to participate in the Proefschrift Theater, a substantive program with presentations by winemakers, importers, and industry experts. Themes such as terroir, sustainability, trends in the wine world, and personal stories from producers were extensively discussed. Each company brought its own vision and philosophy, which made for an engaging and varied day full of knowledge and passion.
New wines soon available at Wijnhuis Cave
We left Wine Professional with a head full of ideas and concrete choices. We have selected new wines from our existing suppliers that will soon be available both in-store and online. Each of these wines excited us, and we know they perfectly complement the Wijnhuis Cave assortment.

Wine Professional has once again shown us why we love this profession so much: special encounters, pure quality, and an endless amount of inspiration. We can't wait to share our new discoveries with you. Because ultimately, Wijnhuis Cave is all about one thing: finding beautiful wines and telling their stories.
